K - 5 Grade

About

Our Kindergarten through fifth grade students are super curious about their world! The classrooms are filled with a variety of materials for the students to manipulate and utilize as they explore and fully grasp new ideas and concepts. They are learning how to read with precision and comprehension and how to express themselves clearly in written and spoken form. Their number sense is forming during these years, as is their understanding of basic experimentation.

There is much activity in the Kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms as well. These students can sit at desks for part of the day but still need lots of movement and space to explore freely. Students move around the classroom, working in different centers and creative spaces. They even take “brain breaks” with movement, stretching, and dance to help them refocus and continue learning.

The Gospel is woven through each lesson, and teachers take care to point out the Timeless Truths of God at every turn.

Beyond Classroom Learning

Learning extends well beyond the classroom in these grades as field trips, guest readers and experts, and outdoor learning give greater depth to their experience. Many special days that are celebrated in these grades have become wonderful traditions for students to remember for years to come.

The teachers in these grades understand the developmental nature of children this age and work to teach them in ways that touch their emotional and spiritual selves as well. Children this age want to be connected strongly to their teachers. They are also beginning to realize the greater importance of friends. Teachers create opportunities to teach social-emotional skills to their students that foster healthy relationships. The Gospel is woven through each lesson, and teachers take care to point out the Timeless Truths of God at every turn.
